RetroROCKS! is unlike any station that you’re likely to hear. We don’t really fit a specific “radio” format. Primarily it is a mix of “Classic Hits” with “Classic Rock” tracks for added spice. The music we feature on RetroROCKS! was and continues to be a work in progress. We chose the 60s, 70s & 80s because those decades are the closest to our hearts, and we have the most expertise in them. That was the easiest part, from there it got much more difficult.
Today’s technology has changed the way people consume music. Many people create their own playlists which are available on their smart devices through services like Pandora. Typically these playlists include songs from many different genres and decades. This significantly changed the way people consume and listen to music. Because of the pressures of the “Ratings”, most of today’s traditional FM music stations employ very small playlists of music. Whether they play Classic Hits or Classic Rock, their playlist of active songs is about 200 – 350 songs in it. This leads to playing the same old tired songs over and over, possibly multiple times each day. RetroROCKS! set out to change that. For example, our active music library is about 2500 songs, and we add to it all the time. We guarantee that when you tune in, you won’t hear the same song over and over.
To sum it up, if you enjoy the “classic hits” of the 60s, 70s & 80s, but you also love the best of “Classic Rock”, then give us a try. You’ll hear Classic Rock from AC/DC, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Yes and more. But you’ll also hear Motown, plenty of Beatles, The Eagles, Classic Soul and even some Disco! The challenge is to mix it all together to make it flow well. That is the unique mix that you’ll hear on RetroROCKS! and why we say we are “The Internet’s Playlist of the 60s, 70s & 80s!” I am so happy that you’ve found us and I hope you will enjoy what you hear.
